Listed below are the scholarships awarded by the Virginia
DAR. No affiliation with the State or National Societies is necessary
to qualify for these scholarships. DAR members' children are also eligible
to apply.
- American History Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship ($500 for second place) is awarded to a
graduating high school senior who will pursue an undergraduate
degree with a concentrated study of a minimum of 24 credit hours in
American History and/or American Government. The
applicant shall submit with the
NSDAR
American History
Scholarship Application:
- A letter of not more than 1,000 words setting forth the reasons
for desiring scholarship.
- A transcript of grades, class rank (if applicable and available)
and test scores (SAT or ACT), extra-curricular activities and
honors received.
- The
NSDAR American History
Financial Need
Form.
- Letters of recommendation from at least two (but not more
than four) persons in authority from the high school the
applicant now attends who are familiar with the applicant's work
The State Winner's application will be submitted to the National
Society for consideration for the $8,000 American History Scholarship
awarded by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
- Virginia DAR Scholarships (2)
There are two $1,000 scholarship ($500 for second place) are awarded
to high school seniors who plan to major in any field other than
nursing. The winners MUST attend a Virginia college or university.
- Virginia Nursing Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship ($500 for second place) is awarded to
a high school senior who will continue her/his education at an accredited
Virginia school of nursing.

Scholarship Chairman by February 1st.
